The CHS class of 1981 30-year reunion is less than a week away! The
date is Saturday July 23rd. The listed start time in the Facebook page says 6:00pm and running until 12:30am. However, the
function is rather informal and you can sort of show up when you want to, and can most likely stay later if you want to. The
venue is open until 2:30am.
The location is the First Capital Music Hall on W. Second Street,
across from the Elks and Law Complex parking lots. For those familiar, it is the old Cardo's location, which was originally
a bank building. There will be LIVE entertainment that is open to the public at the First Capital Music Hall, but our class
will have exclusive use of the upper balcony area and upper back room. Our reunion attendees will get a different colored
arm band that must be worn to gain access to the upper level reunion areas. The cost for reunion attendees is $15 per person,
which will include your access to the reunion area on the second floor, and food will be provided by Mister Sub at no additional
charge (consisting of subs, chips, pretzels, cookies, candy?, non-alcoholic beverages and water.) We will have our own
private cash bar on the upper level, and the bar on the main level will be available as well if our bar doesn't have your
preferred drink choices. The back room of the upper level is VERY quiet, even during the live performances, so be assured
you will have time and space to visit and talk to classmates without having to yell over any loud music. Jodie and others
are working to scan and show lots of pictures on the walls in the upper level back room. There are also pool tables and dart
boards on the upper level, but because of the suspected crowd we will discourage dart throwing and may have to discourage
pool... we will just have to see how the crowd is. If you are on facebook, you can search for our reunion page, and you can
search for the page of First Capital Music Hall for more information.
We hope to see you
there, and we hope you will spread the word to all classmates, and to anyone who was ever in our class, even if they moved
away before graduation, etc. Please extend the invitation to any teachers, coaches, etc, as well. They are welcome.
Other reunion activities:
The night prior to our reunion there will be a "Boogie
on the blacktop" at the Elks on Second Street. The CHS football team will benefit from proceeds, and it will be a good
time and place to meet up with classmates the night before. There is also a page for this event on facebook. If all of us
receiving this email who are on facebook will post links to these pages often, so it stays close to the top of your "wall",
then others who aren't as familiar with searching for these can find them more easily. Thanks for your help!
We also discussed a golf outing on Saturday morning. I do not know if anyone has made tee times for us as of
yet, but if you would like to play golf on Saturday morning (not TOO early, please?) then look for info coming soon, or look
on facebook. Anyone wanting to take the lead and organize this, please do so! Thanks!
There was
also talk early on about having picnics, corn-hole games, etc, in the afternoon but I do not know of anyone that has organized
anything like this. If you want to do that, please do and let as many know as possible what you have planned. We will post
on facebook this type of stuff as well if we hear of anything planned.
Last but not least,
we talked about having a tour of the high school to see the many improvements and upgrades they've made, and to see our
old favorite places, favorite rooms, etc. To my knowledge no one has set this up, but if someone has, please let us know so
we can publish it. If you are interested in doing this please let us know. If enough people show interest I'm sure someone
will take the lead and set it up.
On behalf of the numerous people who have set up the events
thus far, thank you for your time reading this. Even if you can't make the reunion, please let us know of your contact
information so we can keep an up-to-date database for future events.
Thanks! See you
Saturday!
